Second Christmas together.
This was our second Christmas together being married! I dunno what it is but really every single day lately I've just been so freaking grateful to be married to Jason and to have him in my life so I was so excited for another Christmas together! My brother was in town so he stayed with us on Christmas eve + Christmas morning (newly divorced parents make holidays kind of awkward to figure out so that's why he stayed with us I think. That's why I would have stayed with us haha) But it was good to have him there! We weren't sure exactly how his Christmas would go because, again, family dynamics are weird this Christmas, so we got him some presents and filled a stocking to make sure that he got presents and had a good Christmas! After we opened presents and hung out for a little bit, Jason & I went to his parents house for breakfast and Craig went to our mom's house for other Christmas stuff.
All I asked for Christmas was workout stuff like a yoga mat and weights because I really want to have that stuff available so I can do workouts at home (obvi :) ) So I got tons of workout stuff and I was shocked because he got me a lululemon yoga mat!! I know it's silly to be excited about a yoga mat but I secretly love lululemon and the only stuff I have from there is all China knockoffs haha so I was excited to get real lululemon gear + workout pants! I got J some fancy soccer cleats (don't ask me what they do or why they're special because I have no idea, all I know is that's what he wanted and that they cost the same as all my shoes combined haha) and I got him random clothes and tickets to see 21 pilots in July!
Later that day, all of J's family got to their house and we opened up presents over there. It's the best seeing all the kids open their gifts and get so excited over everything :) Also I am pretty sure Jason's parents ARE santa clause, like for real. They nail Christmas every single year. This year they got us a new mattress! We didn't even ask for it and I don't even know if we mentioned it but we were literally mattress shopping the week before, which turned into mattress topper shopping, which turned into "maybe we'll look later..." because those things ain't cheap and then bam! His parents get us a new mattress that is seriously so dang comfy. They just KNOW what you want and are so thoughtful and generous. Needless to say, we love our mattress! I feel so adult rn getting so happy over a mattress haha
Obviously I can't just miss the actual reason that we celebrate Christmas! Not sure if you guys noticed that little ad guy on my side bar (I'll be deleting it later just because Christmas is over :'( ) but it talks about the real GIFT of Christmas, which is Christ! No matter what you believe, CHRISTmas is about Christ and the true and amazing gift he gave to us.
But there you have it! Christmas was so fun and so good to spend time with my family and eat good food and just have a day to hang out!! I hope you guys all had a great Christmas and holiday!!

ReplyDeletehaha yes I was sooooo stoked about it/ still am!! So grown up ;)
DeleteBeing excited about adult gifts is so funny. We got a coffee table from my parents and I'm way too excited about it. I get happy every time I see it in our apartment haha. I remember also thinking clothes were super lame and now that's like 90% of what I ask for. And seriously, socks are really exciting. As a kid, they were horrible haha!
ReplyDeletehaha yes totally!! It's just so exciting and even better because it was a gift! I am the same way, I used to hate getting clothes and now it's all I ask for mostly!! Adult life!

Awh thank you!!!
DeleteSo so so good to hear how grateful you are for your husband. It can be so easy to take the people we love for granted. I loved reading that! And I think it's really sweet that you kind of took your brother in this Christmas to help with the awkwardness. Also, your in-laws... and the mattress thing... that's awesome! I bet they are secretly Mr & Mrs Claus. ;)
ReplyDeleteAwhhh thank you!!! I don't know what I would do without him!! And my in laws are for sure Mr + Mrs Claus, they are the best gift givers ever!!
DeleteI can't even afford a lululemon sock. Like ONE SOCK hahaha. I got John a hoodie for Christmas because he reallllly wanted this certain one his brother had and I keep making fun of him now. Like soo fancy in your ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTEEN DOLLAR SHIRT. Like basically just a long sleeve shirt. Craziness. Anyways, do a post on your workouts!!! I could use motivation over here. So anyways - belated Merry Christmas!!! Sorry I've been the worst blogging friend ever! I'm so late lol. That's sweet that your brother stayed with you too. I think it would be hard to get used to divorced parents as adults. Holidays are hard. Like there's a lot of feelings to try not to hurt. But I think the same goes for trying to figure out holidays as a couple lol. Like a million parents to try and please. Ugh. But that is so cool about the new mattress. That still goes down as our most expensive purchase ever. Well actually, besides my wedding band lol. But house/furniture/things we both use, the mattress wins. That is kind of a funny thing for them to get you if you think about it lol. Anyways again, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
ReplyDeletehahah yeah I was VERY shocked he got me some lulu lemon stuff! Like WHOA! hahahah it better be a freaking nice hoodie!!! K so I need to workout and get in a groove and I do want to do a post about it!! I just have to start haha :) And yes, this was our first Christmas with divorces parents AND my mom is already engaged AGAIN to some guy so it's like triple the awkward. They were officially divorced in October, perfect time for awkward holidays haha k rant over on that. Do your wedding ring post! (speaking of your wedding band) I've been dying to know your thoughts on wedding rings!
